We are so proud at Able Hands Together to announce our new online service offering.
“Virtually Together” already plays an important role for us here at Able Hands Together. Particularly whilst navigating the UK’s social distancing guidelines, the service provides a way of accessing and supporting our clients safely from the comfort of their own homes.
The offering breaks down into the following:
A group video call – four times a week
Clients who have trialled this service in its early months with us have benefited hugely from meeting together in a virtual environment. The routine and interaction of the Zoom calls allows them to feel part of the Able Hands Together team as they would on the farm. These sessions are led by qualified Able Hands Together staff and are kept friendly, fun and positive.
A weekly activity pack
These packs include items that are referred to during the Zoom sessions, as well as standalone activities and information for the clients, laid out in a clear and digestible way. As a weekly offering, the packs might include bingo cards, recent topic information with questions to ensure understanding, craft items, recipes, word searches, and fact sheets with questions.
We’ve already been told that our clients really look forward to receiving these packs and enjoying the extension activities.
Life coaching will be an integral part of the Group Zoom and on-going
support calls. We are non-directive in our approach, reinforcing positive language, actions and behaviours, and in turn offer tools to facilitate thinking around any challenge that individuals are facing. We offer our clients the ability to explore options, coach themselves and others, and come up with a number of ways forward to supporting the team as a whole. We are sure to empower our clients to take ownership of any ideas, whilst building steps and actions to make any change necessary. Able Hands Together staff will then ensure gentle follow up, celebrating even the small wins.
It is important for the clients to have access to one-to-one support. As part of “Virtually Together”, this will take the form of individual video calls. These calls will ensure each client is able to have a private support forum, but also to ensure they are engaging and enjoying the facility, and making the most of the coaching available.
Induction sessions will be provided to ensure every client is comfortable with the technology and understands that kindness and support are at the heart of every session. Once the client is comfortable, they will move into a group with up to 8 attendees. These 40 – 45 minute group sessions will run:
Monday to Thursday
A one-to-one continuation can occur immediately if there are any concerns brought up during the group session.
